A message from Miles...

The original vision behind my annual homecoming concert was that it would become a tool to assist in unifying the Body of Christ. There is nothing more precious to our Lord than His Church, His Bride. As a member of that entity, I cherish it, and desire to see it at it's strongest. The Church is always at it's strength when it is working together to accomplish a common goal.

In past years, the enemy has managed to divide the Church into pieces, and blind us to the fact that each of the pieces, even with their flaws and sins, are still in fact all standing for the same thing. This was true of the New Testament Church -- just read 1 Corinthians 3:1-22, or 1 Corinthians 1:10-17 -- and it is true today. Pastors and congregations feel threatened if there's corporate interaction between each denomination. Fear that one church will steal another's flock or corrupt it's members against them plague any motion that leads to unity.

Be encouraged, pastor. God is the builder of His Church. What He does with it is His responsibility. Our responsibility is to be about His business and making disciples. If you are a child of God, no matter where you attend church, if you find the Word of God preached and taught there, you will find camaraderie among those present who are serving the same Lord. And if you are called to a particular church, then you will be drawn to serve there.

This Homecoming Choir is a step to help bring all denominations in the East Texas area together for a night under one banner of "Christians". If we are saved, then we are not Methodist, not Baptist, not Pentecostal, not Nazarene, not any other name we put over us. We are Christ's Chosen and Redeemed, we are the blood bought, and set apart for service, and we are His Bride. Why would we choose to put any other name above that which has been given us?

Come! Join us as we sing as one voice at this special event on March 2, 2013. Reknowned choir director, Glenn Wilson, will be heading up the choir and organizing the voices. Sing along with me on my songs as hundreds of believers worship the Lord Jesus Christ under one roof. The choir will also provide backup for my special guest, Gaither homecoming artist, Larry Ford. During the concert, I'll also be featuring songs from my upcoming CD project called "Blood Kin". Some of the songs include, "His Blood Has Made Us One," "That's What I Call Love," "The Church Homecoming," and "I Can See Through You."

Sign up to be listed among our choir members for the 2013 event. Please note that we plan to meet around lunch on the day of the concert in order to get a couple of hours of practice in and we will be in need of a meal. To make this more of a communal gathering, we are planning a potluck where everyone brings something to contribute to the meal. We ask what you would be willing to bring so that we don't end up with disproportionate amounts of food items. More details will be given as they are available.
